Verge Consultants (VCs) are graduate and professional school students who work with CCEI, the UConn School of Law, and Connecticut's SBDC to help UConn startups overcome the hurdles of entrepreneurship. Through a partnership with Connecticut Small Business Development Center, Verge Consultants get the opportunity to work directly (with mentorship from SBDC) with UConn and Connecticut-based startups. Consultants receive a stipend of $5,000 for 9 weeks of consulting between June and August. Applications are now being accepted, through March 1, 2017.

Verge Consultants Receive:
- Coaching from venture capitalists, angel investors and mentors
- Exposure to entrepreneurship
- Consulting experience with startups
- Course credit or a stipend of up to $5,000.
Verge Consultants Provide:
One-on-one assistance to entrepreneurs in the fields of:
- business planning
- financial modeling
- strategy assistance
- competitive assessments
- market sizing
- business model creation
- marketing plan development
Graduate students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Applicants should provide evidence of experience working with startups, and tangible examples of their specialized skills. Special consideration will be given to students who have excelled in CCEI’s Innovation Accelerator.

The 2016 inaugural team of Verge Consultants (VCs) completed their summer assignments on August 18, 2016. The Verge Consultants worked for 10 weeks this summer at the CT Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation (CCEI) offices, in conjunction with CT's Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC), to provide consultation services to UConn and local startups and small businesses. Their assistance included business model creation, financial modeling, competitive assessments, quantitative and qualitative analysis, marketing plan development, and market sizing.
