Attending a career fair is a great way to connect with potential employers and explore different paths. Employers from various industries will be present, offering internships, co-op positions, and full-time job opportunities. Here is more information about our upcoming Fall Fairs:

Day 1: All-University Fair (Tuesday, 9/17):

• This fair is open to all majors. Whether you’re studying business, arts, or any other field, you’re encouraged to attend.
• All years - whether you’re a first-year student, senior, graduate student or anything in-between - employers want to meet you.
• It’s a chance to learn about different companies, their cultures, and available roles.

Day 2: STEM Fair (Wednesday, 9/18):

• If you’re in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM), this fair is tailored to you.
• Explore opportunities in fields like sustainability, software development, data science, engineering, and more.

Remember to research the participating companies beforehand, practice your elevator pitch, and approach the fair with enthusiasm. Make sure to dress professionally, bring your resume, and prepare some questions for the recruiters. Bring a friend…and BE CURIOUS!

In this workshop, we will be discussing the foundational principles of introducing a new product or service to market. We will analyze and discuss best practices for conducting customer discovery to hone in on actionable customer problem statements, and ultimately market insights, to maximize success potential when launching a startup business.

At the event, each startup will present a 7 minute pitch to a panel of judges who then decides which teams are worthy of the $70,000+ in award funding.

New this year, 25+ UConn startups, all of whom previously participated in CCEI’s Summer Fellowship Accelerator will showcase their companies. Guests can learn about what they’re building and purchase their products.

Whether you are on the edge of a new industry or looking to enter an established sector, you need to quantify and understand the industry players, segments, and size. Learn about existing sources of industry information such as market research reports and provides strategies to help you do your own analysis and estimations.By the end of the workshop, you will be able to skim through a market research report in five minutes, list proprietary and open sources of industry information, and experiment with do-it-yourself industry analysis.

A business model describes the rationale of how an organization creates, delivers, and captures value. It is a foundational document for detailing a startup company and is required to access debt and equity capital. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the key components of a business model (and the short form version, referred to as a Business Model Canvas) and how we can use it to highlight value creation and identify risks and assumptions in your business. All participants will leave the session having begun (or honed an existing) business model canvas.

Learn the basics of creating a pitch deck for your startup. A great pitch deck gets your audience excited about your idea and engages them in a conversation about your business — hopefully leading to investment. In this workshop we’ll cover what slides you should include in your deck, how you should structure your pitch and how to make your deck look visually appealing.

In this session, you will learn about three general topics affecting new businesses. First, we’ll walk through “Choice of Entity and Governance Documents,” to help you determine what type of legal entity you would operate your business through—whether it’s a partnership, corporation, limited liability company, non-profit, or a host of other potential options—and then learn about the required regulatory filings and operating documents needed for each type. Next, we’ll review some key issues in governance, which will teach you about the duties of founders to other co-founders, investors, and interested third parties. Finally, we’ll discuss “Legal Audit,” which will be more interactive and walk you through how to conduct a regulatory and contractual audit for a business.
