One of my goals for 2024 is to continue to read great books, but do so with intention. I am constantly being recommended books to read – so much so, that my Amazon book list has over 300 books and I have two shelves in my office dedicated as my "to read pile." Simply put: there are too many books and not enough time!
If you read my earlier blog post about how to read for insight, you'll know that I read to maximize insights that I can use in any and all facets of life. So, flying through books just to say I read them isn't really my cup of tea. This year, I'm being thoughtful about the books that I will commit my time to, and wanted to share the five that I am most excited for:
Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things by Adam Grant
My intention for reading this book (beside the fact that I have been following Adam Grant’s work for a long time) is that the underlining theme is the power of learning. As an entrepreneurship educator, I believe most of what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur can be learned.
The Song of Significance: A New Manifesto for Teams by Seth Godin
We are all impacted by the way the world sees work and the trends that impact the teams we are on or the teams that we lead. This book explores one main theme: How can we think differently about the role work plays in our lives?
Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection by Charles Duhigg (releasing in 2024)
A book about intentional communication and how to have even better, more effective conversations with everyone in your life? Sign me up!
Legendeering: The Brand-New (but Tried and True) Video Communication Strategy to Humanize Your Business by Tom Langan (releasing in 2024)
I have high hopes for Legendeering – from the moment I saw the information on the upcoming book release, I knew that there would be some great insights on generating authentic content to engage and connect with various audiences.
The Culture Code: The Secrets of Highly Successful Groups by Daniel Coyle
This isn't a new book, but one that's been on my reading list for a while. Well, I've decided it's finally time to pick it up and dive in! Culture is so important to any organization, and I think I will find some great insights here not only for our own team at CCEI, but for the entrepreneurs that are building their organizations from the ground up. Fun fact: Adam Grant and Charles Duhigg (Do those names sound familiar? Scroll up through this list again!) have written reviews for this book.
So, what books are you excited to read in 2024?
